Goody Bag Stuffing Guidelines

Thank you for your interest in creating goody bags for Birthday Wishes.  We provide several hundred goody bags each month to the children that we serve.  It is really important that each child receive a goody bag that generates lots of excitement and makes them feel special. Birthday Wishes hands out several types of goody bags depending on the ages of our party guests. We are always in need of goody bags that cater to children under 3 as well as teenagers.   

Please ensure that there is always adult supervision when stuffing goody bags. It is very important that each bag be filled with an equal amount of similar items.  Children will compare the goody bags!  Also, because the genders and ages of the children vary from party to party, we ask that you make the bags as unisex as possible.  See the next paragraph for ideas on what to use as goody bag fillers. Please DO:

• Bags: Use see through cellophane bags with decorations. We cannot accept paper bags of any kind.  Please close each goody bag with a twist tie or sticker so items will not fall out.
  
  
• Fill It Up:  Please use items of varying sizes and shapes to make a full bag that generates lots of excitement.  Approximately 7 items per bag is recommended.

o   Generic Filler: pocket toys & games, note pads, yo-yos, curly straws, pencils, erasers, crayons, plastic animals, stickers, bubbles, play-doh, bouncy balls

o   Toddler Filler: small board books, bubbles, sippy cups, socks, rubber ducks, soft animals, squishy balls

o   Teenage Girl Filler: nail polish, hair elastics, hand cream, compacts, lip gloss, nail file

Please DON’T:

• NO candy or food items
• NO used items or toys (i.e. Happy Meal toys)
• NO toys with a violent theme (i.e. guns)
• NO child should stuff goody bags without adult supervision

Have a Goody Bag Stuffing Party

• Decide how many volunteers will work on the project
• Read our instructions above to make sure your goody bags are prepared within our guidelines.  We are unable to accept goody bags that do not follow the above instructions
• Delegate who will bring what (bags, ties or stickers to close them, filler)
• Arrange the materials in assembly line fashion and count out equal numbers of items to add to each bag
• Start stuffing!
